Live Plant Variation & Shipping Information

Live Plant Variation & Shipping Information

Plants are living, naturally variable products. The plant you receive will be selected to closely resemble the size, fullness, color, growth habit, and overall quality shown in the listing photos; however, your individual plant will not be identical to the plant photographed.

Natural variations may include differences in leaf size, shape, coloration, variegation, number or length of stems, fullness, growth direction, maturity, and overall appearance. Plant appearance may also change throughout the year based on season, growing conditions, maturity, and availability.

Variegated plants are especially unique, and the amount, placement, and intensity of variegation cannot be guaranteed unless a listing specifically states otherwise.

Plants are inspected prior to fulfillment and selected based on their overall health and quality at the time of shipment or pickup. Because plants are living material, minor cosmetic imperfections such as small blemishes, healed leaf damage, naturally aging leaves, or slight foliage variation are normal and do not necessarily indicate an unhealthy plant.

Color & Transit Changes

Plant color and appearance may temporarily change during shipping. Reduced light, temperature fluctuations, humidity changes, and normal transit stress can cause foliage to appear lighter, duller, less vibrant, or otherwise different from its appearance prior to shipment.

Some plants may lose a leaf, flower, bud, or small amount of foliage during transit. With appropriate care, light, watering, and acclimation, healthy plants generally resume normal growth.

Listing photographs are intended to represent the variety, approximate size, and typical appearance of the plant offered unless the listing specifically states that the exact plant pictured will be received.

When a plant is listed by pot size, the stated size refers to the nursery container or planter size and not the exact dimensions of the plant or foliage.

Cold Weather Shipping

Live plants are sensitive to temperature extremes. Weather conditions may be reviewed before shipment, including temperatures at our shipping location, the customer’s destination, and anticipated conditions during transit.

Tropical and houseplant orders: Cold-weather protection is recommended and may be required when forecast temperatures fall below 50°F.

Succulent- and cactus-only orders: Because many succulents and cacti tolerate cooler conditions better than tropical foliage plants, cold-weather protection is recommended and may be required when forecast temperatures fall below 38°F.

Mixed orders containing tropical or houseplants together with succulents or cacti will follow the 50°F tropical/houseplant threshold.

Individual varieties differ in cold tolerance. These temperature thresholds determine when additional shipping precautions may be necessary and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a specific plant can safely tolerate that temperature.

Cold Weather Protection may include insulated packaging and an appropriate heat pack. When temperatures are expected to approach or fall below freezing, additional insulation, a heat pack, faster shipping, or a temporary shipping hold may be required.

Bloom & Thorn Botanicals | All Things Succulents, LLC reserves the right to delay shipment, contact the customer regarding weather protection, or recommend or require a faster shipping method when necessary to reduce the risk of plant damage.

Heat packs and insulation help reduce temperature fluctuations but do not make a package freeze-proof and cannot guarantee protection from prolonged extreme temperatures, carrier delays, misrouting, or packages left outdoors after delivery.

Customers are responsible for monitoring tracking information and retrieving live plant packages promptly following delivery. During temperature extremes, packages should not be left outdoors, in mailboxes, parcel lockers, vehicles, or other unheated or excessively hot locations.

Weather-related shipment delays made for plant safety are not considered fulfillment delays.

Extreme Heat

Live plant shipments may also be delayed during periods of extreme heat. When temperatures are expected to reach approximately 90–95°F or higher, shipping may be postponed or a faster shipping service may be recommended.

Customers should retrieve packages promptly and should not allow live plants to remain in direct sunlight, hot mailboxes, enclosed vehicles, or other excessively hot locations after delivery.
