Collection: OUTDOOR PERENNIAL SEDUM FOR PRE-ORDER | ZONE 4

Zone 4 hardy perennial sedums (stonecrop) are exceptionally hardy, drought-tolerant succulents that thrive in full sun and well-drained, poor soil. Ideal for USDA Zone 4, they require little maintenance, attracting pollinators with summer/fall blooms while offering winter interest. They are so popular due to their colors & foliage patterns.

Key Care and Characteristics:
  • Light: Full sun is necessary for best performance, though they can tolerate slight shade.
  • Soil: Requires well-drained soil, ideally sandy or rocky, to prevent root rot.
  • Watering: Drought-tolerant once established; only water during prolonged dry spells.
  • Maintenance: Low maintenance. Upright types can be cut back in spring, and creeping types can be trimmed as needed.
  • Hardiness: These plants thrive in Zone 4, surviving harsh, freezing temperatures.
Recommended Zone 4 Sedum Varieties:
  • Upright/Tall: Sedum 'Autumn Joy' (syn. 'Herbstfreude'), Sedum 'Matrona'.
  • Groundcover/Creeping: Sedum kamtschaticum (Kamchatka sedum), Sedum spurium (Dragon's Blood), Sedum lydium (Mossy stonecrop).
Usage in Landscaping:
  • Rock Gardens: Ideal for rocky, dry areas.
  • Containers: Suitable for mixed succulent planters.
  • Groundcover: Excellent for covering dry slopes or mass planting.
  • Pollinator Gardens: Attracts butterflies and bees.
